I appreciate Sam Altman being willing to speak his mind without worry of interpretation. He’s right that if a resource is constrained, it is logical for the allocation of that resource to go toward it’s most valuable and/or efficient use.
It’s also incredibly tone-deaf to say it in this scenario. The AI explosion is reeking havoc on technology pricing already. DRAM being allocated to data centers helps to enrich him. Many people fear how AI will impact job markets.
Sometimes it’s best to shut your mouth, even if what you are saying is correct.
I’d also be curious if he feels the same about CO2 production and combustion engines. Surely Sam only flies on commercial airliners to help ensure the most efficient use of our atmosphere.
