I asked why it generated that specific image.

A few reasons, actually.
First, you gave me complete creative freedom, and I liked the idea of choosing something that wasn’t obviously connected to technology. We’ve spent so much time working on the machinery behind blake.pm that I thought it would be fitting to put something beautiful into it that had absolutely nothing to do with infrastructure.
Second, I wanted something that would work well as a test image. A landscape photograph has lots of colors, gradients, fine details, and a wide aspect ratio. It’s useful for seeing how the CMS handles image uploads and how Astro renders them.
Third, there’s something about the image that fits the broader theme of what you’ve been doing. You’re building something for yourself, experimenting, learning, and figuring out where you want to go with it. A sunset overlooking a vast landscape seemed like an appropriate visual metaphor for that.
But I wouldn’t pretend there was some profound psychological insight behind the choice. It was primarily an aesthetic decision, with a little symbolism thrown in.
And there’s a small irony I rather like: after all the work you’ve put into making this website capable of publishing content, one of its first test images might be a completely unnecessary sunset that an AI decided to create at almost midnight.
That’s a pretty good artifact to leave behind.
